Online Scammers Targeting Unsuspecting Religious Nuns

Scammers are targeting religious people more than ever. This email was sent to catholic nun, friend of mine, who is totally ignorant of the presence of online fraudsters. Lets call Mary, for the purposes of this story.

Mary is the head of the fundraising team in the convent and for sometime now, she has been actively writing proposals and sending them out to different donor organizations. Recently, she got this email and her inbox, and the first thought, was that she had hit a jackpot with one of her proposals.

Being a close friend and her technical mind regarding computers, Mary consulted me about this particular email. On reading the email, i told her it was a scam. She could not believe me, because, well it is a lot of money and who would not want it for themselves?

Well, she finally accepted my point of view that she should not reply the email to give the scammer a chance to hack her mailbox. Below, I present to you the scammer’s email you should look out for.

Hello Dear Beloved in Christ,

My name is Mrs. Elizabeth Rogers; I am a dying woman who has decided to donate what I have to you/church. I am 60 years old and I was diagnosed for cancer for about 2 years ago, immediately after the death of my husband, who has left me everything he worked for and because the doctors told me I will not live longer than some weeks because of my health, I decided to WILL/donate the sum of $8,400,000 (Eight million four hundred thousand dollars) to you for the good work of humanity, and also to help the motherless and less privilege and also for the assistance of the widows.

I wish you all the best and may the good Lord bless you abundantly, and please use the funds well and always extend the good work to others. So if you are willing to assist me in this project kindly get back to me immediately so that i will let you know what to do next.I know I don’t know you but I have been directed to do this.

Thanks and God bless. I will appreciate your utmost confidentiality in this matter until the task is accomplished as I don’t want anything that will jeopardize my last wish.Yours Sister in Christ.

Mrs. Elizabeth Rogers

If it wasn't for the many, many clueless imbeciles who respond to these messages, the spamtards would disappear in a matter of weeks.

Spam has never been a real issue for me. Gmail takes care of most of it. I never get telemarketing calls and almost never get junk mail.

Gmail is truly great but sometimes I look into the junk folder and viola, there are all sorts of people proposing deals on a silver platter worth billions of dollars!

Most of the world's spam originates in the United States but is routed through Russia and China to hide its true source.
