French and english scientists have discovered of a strain of HIV, they believe was passed on by gorillas to humans. The researchers who believe that the rare HIV subtype diagnosed in a 62-year old cameroon woman is in a way conected with bush meat.

Until now, all strains of HIV-1, the main virus that causes AIDS, have been linked to African bush meat, which has included the flesh of gorillas and chimpanzees.

This has renewed the debate about the origin of HIV. Wikipedia mentions that this disease began in sub-Saharan Africa and transferred to humans but just like so many other africans, I believe, this is another avenue of demonizing africa. We have watched many movies where the world is plagued by a viral disease threatening to wipe out the entire universe but always, the origins of such diseases are always in africa, often called the dark continent.

This debate is no different either. A disease with its origins unknown or in a way manufactured for chemical warfare purposes, will always have a prime testing ground in africa and of course, that will be its origin.

To quote an anonymous person’s view,
“The virus that causes AIDS was injected into Africans in the Congo by Hilary Kaprowski while claiming it was a Polio vaccine. They used the SIV virus which they harvested from chimps.”

Claims and rumours like these are everywhere but with the truth still hidden, un-truths like “nothing good comes out of africa” will never forever buried.
